Exploring new paths to personal well-being

Empowering Wellness is a free 28-day online, self-directed program hosted by Cornerstone Counselling that aims to support the general well-being of everyone in the community. We want to help you invest in your well-being by offering accessible scientifically supported wellness strategies that you can complete on your own! While these interventions are not meant to replace professional mental health services, they are meant to promote and maintain your well-being and aid in preventing more serious health issues from developing in the long term.

Interventions are science-backed and created by professionals, made to be the most beneficial for you! This program uses well-being practices curated by the Greater Good Science Center at the University of California, Berkeley. These interventions will rotate over the four weeks, and may include things like:

  • Guided nature walks
  • Reflective journaling assignments
  • Breathing exercises
  • Body scan meditations

You’ll get one intervention to focus on each week, and you’ll have a chance to let us know what you thought of it after each week. The interventions and online worksheets are yours to keep once you receive them – thinks of them as “tools” for your “well-being toolbox” that you can refer to when you need to!

You will have the opportunity to reflect on and grow in areas of:

  • Mindfulness
  • Self-Awareness and Reflection
  • Self-Esteem
  • Awe
  • Gratitude
  • Understanding your strengths
  • Resilience
  • Connectedness

How It Works

Getting Started

Before the program starts, you’ll get a brief survey asking you how you are doing.

Next, you’ll get an email at the beginning of each week with an intervention to focus on for the next seven days. You’ll get a step-by-step worksheet to follow and journal pages to record your thoughts. These are just for you – we won’t ask for any of your personal work. After each intervention, we will send you a check-in email asking for feedback to help us tailor the program to the best it can be.

At the end of the program, you’ll get the same survey you did at the very beginning. We’ll compare these surveys to determine what kind of impact our program has had and learn how we can best tailor these programs to serve our community.

Help us make this program the best it can be!

Before and after you complete the 4-week program, we will send you a survey to complete. This survey lets us know how the interventions affected you! These survey responses are 100% anonymous and are used to help us determine the impact of the program and refine it for future use in the community.
